Arts - Double or Nothing

Sydney Morning Herald, 23 November 2001 p. 4

Andrew Horsley of the executive recruitment firm, Horsley & Company believes (UNSW) produces the best arts graduates. "There, you've got first class academics teaching you" he says.

But Mr Horsley warns against tossing the humble arts degree to one side. He believes a sense of inquiry and passion and the ability to recognise the importance of great ideas are needed attributes in an employee.

"An arts degree is not a waste of time. It's a brilliant foundation," he said. "It allows you to take the scenic route to the top of the mountain rather than scrambling up the cliff face".
