Mr Andrew Horsley, the director of executive search consultancy Horsley & Company, had his own list of criteria to be met if a person was to be regarded as a true leader. "They have to be an asset builder and understand the business. They need to have a visible presence in both business and the community. They need to be able to manage change, keep learning and know how to build a learning organisation. They need to be a globalist, to see beyond the shores and project a shadow beyond their organisation. Finally, they must plan for succession.
