You know your opponents are in front of you but your enemies can be all around. Being aware of the reasons people love to hate will help you overcome that enmity.
Humility means you see other people's point of view and know how to recognise the talents and efforts of others. "We all like recognition, explains Andrew Horsley, principal of the Sydney based management consultancy Horsley & Company. That is the key to the health of an organisation".
Consistency is also important. "Stick with what you see as important to be done," Horsley says, "and be consistent with this program".
Above all, retain your good humour and be patient. Horsley quotes a Latin phrase "cunctando regitur mundus" - outwait all and you can rule all.
